I am a lover of Ideas.
Whether visual or verbal, being able to tell a story is being able to share an idea. It connects me to those around me, just as I have connected to so many creators before me.
In my art, I am really interested in the narrative, in the idea, in the character and their history. I strive to illustrate mood, theme, and psychology.
One reason I am drawn so strongly to scifi and fantasy is how reality can be shifted for the sake of the narrative or the idea in such a way, that the shift itself creates and answers questions about our perception of the universe around us.
If there is a story to be told, a character to be unmasked, an idea to be represented, I want to paint it.
I have spent over ten years as a Fine Art oil painter, focusing on original landscapes as well as reproductions of Pre-Raphealite and German Romantic Paintings.
More recently, I have begun painting digital illustrations as well, focusing on scifi/fantasy genres and integrating the techniques I have learned as an oil painter into a digital medium.
